Obama Would Be Our First Internet President

Obama early voting ad in XBox 360 game, Burnout Paradise

Obama is running the most innovative presidential campaign of our generation. There’s no media form that he hasn’t already penetrated. I see Obama ads everywhere I go. While window-shopping on iTunes the other day, I ran into an Obama campaign app that allows people to call their friends and gives supporters access to his positions on major issues. I couldn’t help but notice this comment by one iTunes user, “I heard McCain’s app will be released on VHS.” That commenter is wrong, of course. McCain’s app will be released on the Blackberry, which McCain himself invented.

Obama also spends a massive chunk of his campaign funds on TV ads. Last week, I was watching the Colbert Report when the following message popped up on my screen: “Click ‘Select’ to see the Obama Channel.” I did. Sure enough Obama’s camp bought an entire channel on Dish Network to air his ads 24/7. Genius.

Big Boi Catches Obamamania

Monday, August 4th, 2008

You may now add Big Boi to the list of Obama’s radical associates.

Asked whether Obama should pick Hillary as his running mate, Big Boi gave this sexist, misogynistic, and politically incorrect answer: “I just think we need a whole fresh batch of lettuce for the salad.”

One of the most thoughtful Obama tributes from a hip-hop artist.

Seriously, who cares?

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

I’ll spare you the anti-Jesse Jackson rant, seeing as my brothers from another mother khal and Enigmatik have already done a fine job of putting Uncle Jesse in his place.

For the uninitiated, I’m referring to Jesse Jackson’s remarks that he’d like to castrate Obama, because the brother was “talking down to black people” with his faith-based program suggestions. Jackson was probably reacting to Obama’s Father’s Day admonition to fathers, in which he charged them to take care of the seeds.

“See, Barack’s been talking down to black people on this faith-based—,” Jackson said off air on Fox News. “I want to cut his nuts off.”

As a black man who grew up without a father in the house, I’d like to cut Jackson’s nuts off, but that’s beside the point.

Suddenly everyone thinks that Jackson’s statements will somehow alter the way people view Obama and thus hurt his campaign. Question is, how many people do you know that still take the Jesse Jacksons and the Al Sharptons seriously? I’d rather take advice from Michael Eric Dyson than from Jesse-Sharpton.

Calm down, people. Let grumpy old men be grumpy old men. I’m sure he’s made worse off-the-cuff remarks behind the scenes. He’s apologized. His son apologized. Obama has accepted his apology.

We could get into all the reasons why Uncle Jesse wants to neuter Obama. But seriously, who even cares?

Video: Amanda Diva - “Watch Your Back, Barack”

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

Ardent Barack supporter Amanda Diva warns the President-to-be to watch his back, because white supremacists are out to get him. She also references Hillary’s infamous assassination remarks. I see where she’s coming from, but this is a little disturbing to say the least.

There’s a good reason why Obama’s staffers work hard to conceal racially-motivated threats on his life. In the public sphere, perception sometimes feeds reality. So, putting this out there all the time may actually end up hurting the person you’re trying to protect.

Hillary will assasinate Obama in the middle of June

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

Basically, she’s saying this race needs to continue until either:
a) a Clinton wins, or
b) the likely nominee gets killed

I understand she’s fatigued from the rallies and all, but that was such a callous thing to say. She should’ve known better. At this rate, she might as well forget about that 2012 nomination she’s been setting herself up for.

What’s next? Will the Clinton campaign start handing out sniper rifles at Obama rallies?
